SMH – shaking my head
I just wanted to drop a quick note about a lesson that I learned while I was working in the field last week.
I had some downtime in between appointments so I decided to drop by to see one of my clients that had been declined from the original application I took a few months previously. I was only there for a few minutes, just enough time for him to sign a guaranteed issue application. After explaining the situation and how I was going to fix it, he was smiling, shaking my hand and telling me to have a safe drive.
As I walked off his porch and across the lawn to my car, I was just shaking my head. I remembered back to calling this guy and trying to set an appointment only to have him yell at me and hangup. As usual, I wrote a DK on his lead card and dropped in on them one day. I ended up selling him and his wife! The policies weren’t huge and the commission won’t make me rich or even make my house payment, but that’s not the point. I was able to push past this gentleman’s negativity on the phone and make a nice sale and gain new clients just because I wasn’t willing to give up on them.
